Meet Ebert:

Ebert, 34 years old, runs Finca Artemira after the early passing of his father during his childhood. He is the head of the farm project.

The family was left with a successful cattle business and a 3-hectare coffee farm. However, due to his mother’s lack of experience in the cattle industry, the cattle business started to decline, and they focused more on the coffee plantation. His mother took a bold step and invested the remaining funds from the cattle business into new coffee plantations, a decision that would secure the family's future.

With Ebert's leadership, they now cultivate 15 hectares of coffee, growing varieties like Bourbon Rojo, Caturra, Pache, and several types of Geisha. Their coffee has earned recognition in local Cajamarca competitions and the 2023 Cup of Excellence, leading to exports to the UK, South Korea, and the US.

A key moment in Ebert's personal story: at 19, he worked in the fishing sector as part of a crew on an artisanal fishing boat, catching Mahi-mahi and giant squid in northern Peru. He recalls it as the hardest job he's ever done, laughing that he quickly realized coffee was a far better choice for him.

In gratitude to his mother’s work, Ebert named the finca Artemira, after her first name. Now, at 34, he enjoys a fulfilling life with his wife and their 9-month-old baby.

  • Post harvest processing

After harvesting each geisha variety independently, they are pre-fermented for 24 hours prior de-pulping.

They are later washed, re-selected and dried in raised beds.
